iPhone App: Warcraft Arena Calculator
It looks like there is another iPhone and iPod Touch application available on the App Store. This is actually the fourth native iPhone and iPod Touch application available and it's called, Warcraft Arena Calculator [iTunes link], and as you could tell from the title it's basically that, . . . an arena points calculator.
The application is written by Zevo Inc. and costs 99 cents (US). I have to admit that I initially hesitated on hitting the purchase button since it didn't seem like there was anything more than just a simple arena calculator. However, I wanted to see what it's about, and since I've said in my previous post that I like supporting new developers, I went ahead and put down my 99 cents (US). Now that I own it, let's take a look.
Here's their application description:
"ArenaCalc is a Warcraft arena points calculator. Use it determine how many arena points you'll receive for 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 arena teams. In addition, season 3 and season 4 item costs are included."
The above description is actually exactly what it does, nothing more, nothing less. Enter your Arena Rating and it spits out your predicted arena points you'd get for that week. It has the exact same functionality as the official WoW Armory Arena Calculator. Actually it has less functionality than the official calculator since it doesn't even have the Rating Calculator, or the Time Calculator.

There's not much more to say about this really except that it's completely easy to use, has a plain but clean interface, and does exactly what it says it's suppose to do. It does have a beautifully designed icon though. Maybe they'll apply some of that icon design wizardry in their next update?
I hope the developers are actually going to do more with this application. Even though it is a 1.0 release they could have done more. They say that their development team is "full of World of Warcraft PVP players", so I would assume they know what PvP'ers would like to see in an iPhone application. Any big time Arena players out there that care to comment on what else could be done with this application?
I just don't think I'll be using this application very much, it at all. Perhaps if there was more to it then I'd be more excited. For now, I'll await an update.
