Help, Is Number Two Tameable?

White GorillaThere's a white gorilla in the "old world" that has yet to be confirmed to be tameable or not.   I've even went ahead and asked the guru of hunter pets, Mania, of Mania's Arcania and Petopia, and she told me that she didn't know about this gorilla.  Interesting, perhaps I should investigate further.

Ever since the Echoes of Doom went live on Tuesday I've been doing what everyone else probably has and learning the new changes to their classes.   A lot of changes came to hunters in this patch and I was ready to try out the new talents, and especially the new hunter pets and their new talents.  As a Beast Master hunter I just had to get an Exotic Pet so I made my way down to Un'Goro Crater for a Devilsaur.  Seeing that the Devilsaurs were being heavily stalked by other BM hunters, I decided it's time to get a gorilla.   I just had to see for myself what BRK was all excited about with these "gorilladins".

I didn't just want any gorilla, I wanted the white one that I've seen on Petopia, named Uhk'loc.  I knew from the site that he's a rare spawn in Un'Goro Crater so I headed there and proceeded to search for him inside the cave.  From experience taming other rare pets, I knew I'd probably be camping this guy for a while.  The cave has a few quest objectives so he'd probably killed as soon as he's seen, and now with the patch there are a lot of hunters in there getting a new gorilla pet, or have the same idea I do and will be camping for Uhk'loc as well.

I didn't know the spawn rate of Uhk'loc, so I went to do some research.  Apparently he's on a very long timer from when he is tamed or killed, and it appears to be 8 hours.   Not exactly great news as that meant taming him was going to be a combination of perfect timing and luck.  While on Wowhead, I noticed a tab titled "Same model as (24)" which I thought meant there were 24 identical colored skins as Uhk'loc.  Petopia only indicated two white gorilla skins so I went to investigate.  The "24" meant the number of 3D models that matched, not the skins.  One thing that caught my attention however was that there were actually three gorillas with the skin, GorillaSkinWhite, not just two.  One was Uhk'loc, the other was Mokk the Savage whom is not tameable, and one that I've never heard of before named Number Two.

Number Two?   A level 61 elite gorilla in Winterspring? I've never seen any gorillas in Winterspring.  Apparently Number Two has been around for a long time in the game.   There's no mention on Petopia about Number Two, so I sent an email over to Mania asking her if this gorilla was tameable.  Mania replied to me saying that she hasn't heard of this gorilla either and that she'd update the Petopia database.  The question still remained, is Number Two tameable?

White Gorilla

It looked like he was part of a short quest chain where he could be summoned so I headed over to Tanaris to see if I could complete the chain, summon him and check him with Beast Lore.  If he was tameable I'd get him, if he wasn't at least we'd know that too and Petopia could be updated.  At least that was my plan.

Well, after spending a great deal of time swimming (and dying) to a pair of islands off of Land's End Beach on the southern shore of Tanaris I realized that I couldn't even start the quest.  This was very disappointing as these islands are not easy to get to because you have to cross waters that will make you fatigued and you will die.  To make it more difficult to get to these islands, you could get fatigued and "die" again even while spirit running to retrieve your body.   I died three times before getting there and since you rez in the middle of Tanaris everytime, it's a huge time commitment just to get there.  So you could imagine how upset I was that I couldn't start this quest chain.  It should be noted that these islands are not shown on the map at all.

Frustrated I proceeded to do more research on the quest chain, did more running around, and then finally found out that summoning Number Two is a lot more involved.   It turns out that in order to get the start of this quest series (it starts with Draconic for Dummies) you have to be on another much larger quest series to restore The Scepter of the Shifting Sands.  Those of you that have played WoW for a long while will remember this extremely long quest series was to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj.  All the servers have the gates already opened, but you still have to go through parts of this quest series to even be able to start the quest chain that will ultimately summon Number Two.

I started the Scepter quest series but am stuck on the quest, Only One May Rise, which entails going into Blackwing Lair (an old 40-man raid instance) and kill the third boss, Broodlord Lashlayer.  Considering that Wrath is just around the corner and everyone is still playing with the new patch, I doubt I'll be going into BWL any time soon.  Even if I was to down this boss and complete the quest, I would then have to get neutral with the Brood of Nozdormu via The Hand of the Righteous before getting the quest, Anachronos, which would then open the availability of the quest series that will summon Number Two.

White GorillaSo this means that I don't think I'll be able to summon Number Two any time soon to check if he's tameable or not.  However, perhaps there are some people that meet the requirements that can summon him.  So I guess this is a call for help to any that can summon Number Two.  If you're a hunter, or can bring a hunter to go along with you, and do Beast Lore (and take a screenshot) to see if it's tameable or not, then that would be awesome.  I can't offer you fame or fortune for this information, but you will have my deepest gratitude and the warm and fuzzy feeling that you contributed to expanding the community's hunter pet knowledge.

Someone?  Anyone?  Help.  Is Number Two tameable?
